Self Service Password Reset & Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

ACTION REQUIRED:  Setup two-step verification methods

Cumberland County DoIT is encouraging all county employees to add an extra layer of security to your work account with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR)!

WHAT IS MULTI-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION?

MFA is a process where a user is prompted during the sign-in process for an additional form of identification, such as to enter a code texted to their cellphone, a phone call, or code generated from Microsoft Authenticator app.

MFA adds an extra layer of security to your account in case your password is stolen or compromised.

One way to accomplish this extra layer of security is to download the Microsoft Authenticator app to your phone.  Because passwords can be forgotten, stolen, or compromised, the Authenticator app is an additional security step that helps protect your account by making it harder for other people to break in.

WHAT IS SELF-SERVICE PASSWORD RESET?

SSPR gives users the ability to change or reset their password, with no administrator or help desk involvement.

While setting up SSPR, you will be required to register for two-step verification! Registering for SSPR is  an easy way to accomplish our MFA goals!

You will also be able to reset your password from Office 365 portal but only  if you have proactively registered for SSPR.
